Qualifications: A minimum qualification of BScHons in Chemistry (Tutor) or MSc (Senior Principal Tutor) is required, together with at least 5 years’ experience in teaching undergraduate or high-school chemistry. The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications experience.

Duties: The emphasis of responsibilities in positions on the Tutor track is on teaching, although participation in research is encouraged. Duties include lecturing general chemistry to students; running large-group tutorials; running small-group tutorials f or students with no chemistry background; participation in teaching workshops; administration of selection

For the advertised positions, fluency in written and spoken English is essential. The ideal will have a broad knowledge of general chemistry at the introductory level. If appointed Senior or Principal Tutor, some teaching at higher levels may be required.

Salary: Includes a provident fund, medical aid and bursaries, subject to University regulations.
