| Job Information | Responsible Care is an initiative of the international chemical industry with the aim of participants doing more than is required by legislation with regard to preserving the environment, the safety and health of employees, stakeholders and affected parties. The person appointed to the post would be required to: a. Formulate strategy with regard to the maintenance & development of the Responsible Care Initiative. b. Ensure that performance of the Responsible Care initiative in South Africa is in line with global practice. c. Ensure that all relevant legislation including national standards are – wherever possible – aligned with Responsible Care objectives. d. Ensure that members are kept abreast of relevant legislative developments and changes in national standards. e. Manage and promote the Responsible Care initiative. f. Represent CAIA with regard to Responsible Care matters nationally and internationally. This is a senior post in the organisation and the incumbent may be required to deputise for Executive Director when required. Candidates should have extensive experience in the Chemical Industry and an above average knowledge of the SHE requirements in the handling, manufacturing and marketing of chemicals. Candidates should be registered professional chemical engineers or hold a four year degree in a relevant field. The vacancy is due to retirement of the present incumbent.
